Collage was the key!

After I decided to make collage one of my parameters, I made these, in two-and-a-half weeks. Granted, they were much quicker to make than paintings, but, for me, this was prolific. I had so much fun, and I’m excited about my new, even more focused direction.

I’ve since bought a gel plate and brayer to expand my way of making painted papers. I’m already having fun with those. The things you can do with them are just about limitless.

I’m so thankful to God for the idea for and completion of this project. It really has helped me identify my visual language, feel connected to the artists I love, and find a focused way forward.

Below are better images of the five newest pieces. (You can see the first two here.) Click on them to see them in a focused way.

It’s quite challenging taking photos of (mostly) high-contrast pieces like this, especially when they also have text written on them in graphite. I’ll keep working on that.
